Mary Pyland Memorial Service

Mary Jo Pyland, 104, of Abilene, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, March 17th at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Broadview Baptist Church, 2500 South 27th St., with burial following at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Mary was born in Rule, Texas on January 4, 1919, to James and Bessie (Place) Webb. She married Sub Pyland on September 25, 1990, in Abilene, Texas. He preceded her in death February 1, 1995. Mary owned and operated Merle Norman Cosmetics in the River Oaks Shopping Center for 38 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Sub Pyland, son Rodney Hines, and grandson Michael Hines; seven sisters: Vera Ratliff, Creola Cone, Emma Glover, LaVerne Lee, Billie Jones, and Joan Billings, and Hazel Hindman; as well as four brothers: Cleo Webb, Norman Webb, J.E. Webb and Davis Webb.

Mary is survived by her niece, Vicki Hindman Thomas and husband Bill of Waxahachie, TX.
