How it all started...
The Lord created this local congregation in 1959.
A group of twelve people, members of the then Temple Baptist Church, sensed the Holy Spirit leading them to start a new work in South Abilene.
It was a journey of faith that was long and hard at times.
They chose the name “Broadview” because of the view from this “high place” in Abilene.
At that time there was not much out this way, but they also had a view of the future. A future that now contains a church with multiple worship services, multiple campuses, reaching multiple generations both here in Abilene and all around the world.

A Vision of What "Could Be"
That small group from Temple Baptist Church began getting together in cottage prayer meetings.
After earnestly and steadfastly praying for several months, a vision was born to start a church in the southern part of Abilene.
On April 3, 1959, that prayer group voted to become a mission. The first service was June 14, 1959. On July 26, 1959, Broadview was officially constituted into a church.

They chose the name Broadview because 2500 South 27th was a "high place" in Abilene from which you could see for miles looking southward.
THE VISION CONTINUED...
They had a broad view of the future. A future that now consists multiple services, multiple campuses, reaching multiple generations both here and Abilene and all around the world.
From that original 29 charter members, Broadview has grown into what it is today. It was a journey of faith that was long and hard at times. They went before us and left a great legacy; a legacy of faith, obedience, submission, and sacrifice.
Today we are committed to continuing that vision. They were committed to expressing genuine faith through Christ-like. We're committed to doing the same.
