Hey Church Family,
I'm in my 13th year as Senior Pastor at Broadview. From the beginning, our vision has been to see every person find new life in Jesus. The growth of our church in pursuit of this vision has required us to build and expand.
In 2012, we built a new wing for our preschool department. That expansion helped us reach many young families who now call Broadview home. Over time, that growth spread into other ministries, including children and students. As a result, we have a facility gap we must fill to keep moving forward.
Broadview’s first generation worshiped in what we call our “Main Building” today. We plan to renovate that space so our students will have a place of their own. What Broadview made possible for that first generation, we can now extend to another.
That’s the big idea behind Close the Gap: Jesus for Every Generation. This project will also add seating to our Worship Center, new office space, bathrooms, and other improvements.
There are many more people, here and abroad, who need to find new life in Jesus. Let’s “Close the Gap” and partner together to bring Jesus to every generation.
With love,
Pastor Wes

OUR STORY
The vision for Broadview began in a cottage prayer meeting in 1959. That group was given a vision for a new church plant on the southern edge of Abilene. With open fields stretching south, they had a "BROADVIEW" of what God might do.
The first service was held in a rented property on South 27th Street and Buffalo Gap Road. One year later, 1.4 acres were purchased at Broadview’s current location. The following year, the first sanctuary was built, and Broadview has continued to grow ever since.
David Cason was called as Senior Pastor in August of 1975. Under his leadership, the Lord blessed Broadview with a 30-year season of growth. In 2013, Wes Terry was called as Senior Pastor. In every season, the Lord has been faithful to grow and add to His church.
From Abilene to “the uttermost” the vision has not changed. Every ministry, project and building expansion has been to help every person find new life in Jesus.

CONSTRUCTION TIMELINE
OUR PROBLEM
Broadview has experienced steady growth over the last five years. Worship attendance has increased by an average of 12% each year, while baptisms and new members have increased by an average of 31%.
Baptisms and New Members
2021 – 44 (12 baptisms and 32 new members)
2022 – 58 (32 baptisms and 26 new members)
2023 – 76 (40 baptisms and 36 new members)
2024 – 100 (64 baptisms and 36 new members)
2025 Year-to-Date – 69 (36 baptisms and 33 new members)
Broadview in 2025 looks markedly different from 2019. Lower turnover and rapid growth have created a facility gap. The most significant gap is in our student ministry, which has averaged over 50% growth.

Broadview students have never had a dedicated Student Wing. They currently share space with adults and other groups. But even that space can't meet their long-term needs.
“Close the Gap” will address this need by providing a dedicated Student Wing. It will also meet other facility needs to support Broadview’s future growth.

OUR GOAL

YOUR PART
We're inviting every person to take the following four steps.
For 100% participation and that we reach our financial goal of $1.5 million.
Set aside time to listen and pray for how you should give. Write down the amount God leads you to pledge. If married, come to a mutual agreement.
Take an inventory of your life and giving potential. Use what you find to develop a giving plan.
Use a pledge card to communicate your gift. This pledge should be in addition to your regular tithe/offering.
We will receive a year-end offering in 2025 and annual commitments for 2026, 2027, and 2028. The total will determine your overall pledge.

HOW TO PLAN
Give yourself time to hear from God. Consider what the Bible says about giving.
Ask God to help you be more generous than you’ve ever been.
(Pro 3:9-10; 11:24-25; Mat 6:19-21; Lk 6:38; 1 Cor 16:1-2; 2 Cor 9:6-15)

If giving as a family, make it a shared journey. Encourage each person to seek God for a number.
Involve everyone in the giving plan. Learning biblical stewardship is a gift at any age.

Don’t limit your potential to be generous. Take a “physical walk” around your property and a “digital walk” through your accounts.
Be open to what God might use. Is there something you could deploy? Decrease? Delay? Start doing?

Your pledge will require faith in God’s provision. Trust God to provide and remain faithful when He does.
Our goal is 100% participation (not equal amounts, but equal sacrifice.)

FAQs
1.5 million is what we need to accomplish everything on our list. Most of the costs will be in construction though other expenses are also included. The finance team will steward excess funds with wisdom and integrity.
Typically, our end-of-year offering is designated to World Missions. We are an Acts 1:8 church and that has not changed. Close the Gap will increase our commitment to missions by funding and strengthening our World Missions Budget.
One gift to Close the Gap will support our Missions Offering and facility needs. The same will be true for 2026, 2027 and 2028. Designated gifts to World Missions will not be applied to Close the Gap.

Renovating the Main Building for student space will begin in January 2026. We will use the end-of-year offering and accumulated funds to complete that project. Afterwards, we will determine the best course to complete the remaining projects.
Broadview has been debt-free for several years. The cost for this project should not exceed our giving goal or require long-term financing. If short-term financing is necessary, we will present that to the church for a vote.
