Weekly Update | February 15th

Hello Church Family,

I hope you’re having a good week! This weekend is going to be a special one at Broadview Baptist Church. Many prayers have been prayed over our search for a full-time music pastor. The music pastor search team has been hard at work over these past several months.

This Sunday, one of the candidates for the music pastor position will be here to lead in the three morning worship services. His name is Daniel Hessler. He, his wife Michelle and two adopted children Abigail & Addyson all live in Watuga, TX. (North East Side of Fort Worth)

Daniel has been the music pastor at Alliance Baptist Church in Fort Worth for the past seven years. Daniel has been serving in the worship ministry at Alliance for over ten years. He has received his B.S. in Music from Dallas Baptist University with a major in vocal performance. He’s an extremely talented young man with a great family and a sincere love for the Lord. I’m excited for you all to meet him this weekend.

The search for a music pastor hasn’t been easy. As you well know, our church is different than some others in that we have different genres of music depending on the service time. The differences are stark and it has been difficult to find a candidate who could lead both styles effectively.

After months of collecting resumes, the team started pursing a handful of candidates whom we thought might be a fit for the position. Daniel was the only candidate remaining after that process of discernment and vetting.

Tonight he will lead our 8:25 service worship choir. Tomorrow evening he will rehearse the 9:40/11:00 worship team. Sunday, he will lead the music in all three morning worship services.

Please keep this whole matter in your prayers as we together seek to discern God’s leadership. Tonight, after the 8:25 service rehearsal, Daniel will be available for a “meet & greet.” If you’d like to meet him or ask any questions, he’ll be hanging out in the choir suite from about 6:30-8:00.

I know that there’s a lot of emotion tied up into how people feel concerning this particular staff position. Worship through music has a unique way of connecting our hearts with God. We all have memories of unique times of intimacy with the Lord as we worshipped Him through song.

For that reason, people feel strongly about the future of the worship ministry in our church. I want you to feel confident about the direction we are heading. Should the search team recommend Daniel as our next worship pastor, I want you to have some idea of what that entails.

That’s why I’d like to encourage you to be here this Sunday at Broadview. If you want, come on up tonight and introduce yourself. Whatever else you do, take this matter before the Lord in prayer. We want to help facilitate what God wants for Broadview Baptist Church.

On other matters, don’t forget, there will be a free preview to the Financial Peace University class this Sunday evening at 5:30. You can order materials online or through the church. But you need to sign up soon so we’ll know how many to order. There will also be a Ladies Bible Study on 2nd Timothy starting this Sunday night as well (6:30pm).

Lastly, our church is hosting the Compassion Experience next weekend. This event features an interactive journey through the true stories of children living in developing countries like the Philippines, Kenya, Uganda and the Dominican Republic. In over 2,000 sq ft of interactive exhibit space, visitors will step inside homes, markets and schools —all without getting on a plane.

Each child’s story starts in poverty but ends in hope. Compassion still needs volunteers to help make this a great event. If you’d be willing to help then sign up here. Be sure to join us next Sunday for a morning worship service you’ll never forget!

Also, remember the New Caney Mission Team next weekend as they travel south to engage in personal evangelism and other matters related to the planting of Immanuel Baptist Church. If you’re interested in helping send the Boyd Family as they follow God’s leadership to help plant this church, you can do so here. You’d be helping Broadview take the next step in part of our 2020 Vision to strategically plant or revitalize five churches in North America.

As always, if there’s anything I can pray for you about, please let me know! Just reply to this email and it’ll go directly to me. Have a great rest of your week!

Blessings,

Pastor Wes
