Hey Church Family,

I hope you had a great weekend! It was a wonderful day today in worship and I wanted to write to remind you of several important things happening in the next few days. This is the last day of October and come November things really start moving around both campuses.

If you just want the highlights you can find them here.

If you’d rather watch a video instead of read the email you can watch below.

Pastor Wes gives an update about upcoming events at Broadview.

Church Wide Prayer Meeting

November 1st | 6:00PM

This coming Monday we will have a “church-wide” prayer meeting. Please make plans to attend so we can partner together in praying for various needs in our church family.

There are several folks in our church who are going through a seriously tough time. Our world is so broken and that brokenness has “hit close to home” these past few months in our church family.

Several of our members have lost their lives to COVID-19 and related diseases. Many others have gotten seriously sick. Families are struggling with all sorts of complications and spiritual attacks. Our congregation is facing spiritual challenges that must be addressed and overcome.

For The Mission

There are also some exciting opportunities that need our prayers. Tanner Clarke and his family will be going to “The Farm” (International Learning Center of the International Mission Board) in Richmond Virginia this next week.

We will have a special time of prayer for them during Monday’s prayer meeting so please come for that. Even if you cannot make it on Monday please pray for the following this next week as they take the “next step” in their process with the IMB.

  • Pray for clarity and direction as they explore what God’s will is for their family.
  • Pray that they would have excitement for this next step and that fear or anxiety wouldn’t creep in.
  • Pray for their hearts will be willing and open to listen to God’s direction and be obedient.
  • Pray for group and individual interviews with leadership.

This step in the process of becoming a missionary with the IMB is a really big deal. They’ve been diligently working this past year in preparation for this week. The outcome of this step will have a big shaping influence on their future in ministry. So please be praying each and every day this next week for the Clarke Family.

Brazil Mission Trip

In addition to prayers for the Clarke’s we will also be praying for our Brazil Mission Trip and the people going on that trip. The Brazil team will leave November 10th and be gone until the 19th. We will pray for God’s Spirit to move in power while they engage in evangelism and discipleship.

Finally we will pray for what God is doing in the life of our congregation. We will give thanks to God for the spiritual fruit that is growing from this Spiritual Growth Campaign. We will also pray that God continue to use this season to bring about revival in our hearts and in our church.

There is power in prayer! But we will not experience that power if we do not pray. I know it can be a hassle to take time out of your day to come up and pray at the church but this is an important season in the life of our church and we need God’s help to see it through. Please mark your calendar and make an attempt to be there if you’re in town and available.

Hands and Feet Ministry

A Report of Ministry Impact

Before I get to the new announcements, I wanted to give a quick update on our Hands and Feet Ministry from last weekend. God led us to take on 9 projects and all nine were vetted and organized by our J.O.Y ministry (Just Older Youth.)

Each day we began with breakfast at the church. The kitchen crew fixed a wonderful meal, made lunches for all workers and suppled iced down waters/drinks for the day.

Various projects were assigned and accomplished.

  • Flower beds were cleaned out and beautified.
  • Trees were trimmed back and dead bushes were removed at numerous locations.
  • Half-steps were built for easier access in a home complete with an installed grab bar.
  • Rotten wood was replaced and painted at the end of a porch overhang.
  • Rotten wood was replaced on the back side of a home complete with being chalked and painted.
  • Hand rails were painted and reattached properly to the home and porch.
  • A deck was repaired and painted, and vinyl flooring was laid in a home.
  • Most importantly, workers were able to bless each homeowner and pray with them before departing.

A total of 28 people helped accomplish all the work that was done (and will be completed soon). A few minor things will be completed in coming days as parts are delivered. Four individuals were called off on potential Saturday projects due to completion of every project the previous day.

For the 32 individuals willing to participate, I pray God richly bless you. This will be an ongoing ministry in the future. Not only does it bless fellow Broadview members in a time of need, it’s also an opportunity to bless others – outside of our church family – to show them the love of Christ in concrete and practical ways.

This ministry is without cost to the homeowner—provided in full by God. If you’d like to help in offsetting the costs that were incurred by this ministry please consider making a donation.

You can include “hands and feet” on the memo of a check or include it in the memo of an online gift on our website or church app. Thanks again for everybody who participated and may God richly bless you for your willingness to serve!

Closing Thoughts

Because we have so many NEW announcements I’m going to close it down with those two updates. Please remember to join us Monday for the prayer meeting and continue praying for what God is doing in the life of our church and its membership.

Below you’ll see several new announcements that have not been spoken about from the stage nor advertised in previous updates. Some of that was negligence on my part and some of these are just now recently coming to fruition.

Please consider participating in the upcoming “Hope Box Packing Event” and “Discover Broadview” lunch happening this weekend. Also please pray about the upcoming “Disaster Relief Training.” Our Thanksgiving meal is around the corner and we’re going to need all the help we can get with that as well. Sign up sheets are in the Gathering Place.

If there’s anyway I can pray for you please let me know. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week and if there’s any way I can pray for you please let me know!

Blessings,

Pastor Wes

Discover Broadview

November 7th

After Third Service

This coming Sunday we will be hosting our monthly “Discover Broadview” lunch. This is an informal lunch gathering with Pastor Wes and/or some of the staff to get a “birds eye view” of the church and answers to any questions you may have.

It can be really challenging to find a church family and a place you can call “home.” That’s why we started hosting these informal lunch gatherings. It’s just a way for you to hear more about the church, her mission and vision and heart for ministry.

If you’re interested in attending you can reply to this email and RSVP.

We need you to register so that we have plenty of food. Just hit the reply button and let us know how many are coming!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Hope Box Packing Event

November 7th

After 3rd Service

Pizza Provided with RSVP!

One of the most active ministries in our church is our grief ministry.

  • We have a funeral meal team that works tirelessly, ministering to families during a time of their greatest pain.
  • We have a follow-up team that mails letters and care packages to families going through the grief process.
  • But we also have a targeted grief ministry to moms who’ve lost a child during pregnancy. It’s called “Hope Mommies.”

As their website states:
Hope Mommies™ is a 501(c)3 non-profit Christian organization whose sole purpose is to come alongside moms and families who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, and/or infant loss, bringing comfort, encouragement, companionship, and hope as they continue to walk this side of eternity without their beloved son or daughter.

Moms who’ve experienced this kind of loss are in a dark night of the soul. It’s a devastating experience that should not be gone through alone.

How You Can Help

You can participate in this ministry by attending the “Hope Box Packing Event” this next Sunday. November 7th, after the third service, we will pack some “Hope Boxes” that will one day be delivered to these grieving mommas. It’s a small and simple way to communicate the compassion of Jesus.

The materials are already purchased. The packing is really easy to do and somebody could do it themselves in a short amount of time. The reason we want you to attend is so you can PRAY over the boxes and the women who will receive them.

You can RSVP to Tracy Talley at 325-370-6209. Just call or text. You can also reply back to this email if that’s easier.

Flu Clinic @ Broadview

November 14th

All Three Services

For the past 4 years we’ve been hosting flu shot clinics at Broadview. We usually host them in November and this year’s flu shot clinic is November 14th.

You can register to get your flu shot using this webform. The shots are provided by Barnes and Williams Pharmacy (owned by church member Jordan Talley)

Jordan will also need a copy of your insurance card or Medicare card, if applicable, to process the vaccine. Please make sure the card you send has pharmacy processing information on it, such as RxBIN, RxPCN, RxGRP, and ID number.

You can email your card to the email address below or we can collect a copy of it the week before the clinic.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Jordan at 325-695-3784 or jordan.talley@bwdrug.com.

Thanksgiving Service & Meal

November 21st
Service: 5PM | Meal: 6PM

Last year because of COVID-19 we had to cancel our traditional Thanksgiving Service & Meal. It’s always one of my favorite services of the year! We gather for worship at 5PM and share a meal together at 6PM.

This year the Thanksgiving service and meal will conclude a Spiritual Growth Campaign we are in as a church. The six-week social media fast and Bible reading plan will end that Sunday.

Please make plans to join us and RSVP the date on your calendar. We also need your help to make it a successful event!

As you see in the above graphic, the main dishes (turkey & dressing) will be provided. But we need your help with vegetable sides, sugary desserts and salads. If you’re feeling EXTRA generous you can help us offset the cost by donating a turkey or ham before the event. Financial donations also welcome!

FOOD ASSIGNMENTS:

Last Name A-I: Vegetables
Last Name J-R: Salads
Last Name S-Z: Desserts

There is a sign up sheet in the Gathering Place. You can also let us know how you plan to help by just replying to this email. Thanks for planning to be a part and for any help you’re able to give!

Women’s Ministry

Christmas Brunch

December 4th | 10AM

This coming December 4th our women’s ministry will be hosting their annual Christmas Bruch. This is a great way to get to know other ladies at Broadview and have some fun while you’re at it.

There will be breakfast food served at 10AM and time for fun and games throughout the gathering. There will be a testimony given and also an ornament exchange (so bring one to give away as well!)

If you have any questions you can reply to this email or contact Tamara or Terryfor more information.

Disaster Relief Training

December 11th

Part of being an Acts 1:8 Church is being there for people when disaster strikes. People are often most receptive to the Gospel when their world has been turned upside down. For this reason, Broadview has partnered with our state convention to be an arm of their Disaster Relief Ministry.

We’ve had this ministry for many years but the credentials for being “qualified to serve” expire every few years. (like a drivers license)

Many of our members attended a “yellow hat” training and became qualified to serve but those credentials must be renewed for us to send anybody out.

Will You Get Trained?

For that reason, we are going to host a church-wide disaster relief training and credentialing campaign. Just like you would get trained and certified to perform CPR in the case of an emergency so also should you get trained and certified to serve in Disaster Relief.

There is an “online” training that you can do at your own leisure. This is the easiest and simplest way to get cleared for service.

Watch the training here.

The other way is an “in person” training that we’re hosting on December 11th. We will have an “in person” basic training in the morning (10:00-11:30am) followed by a “mud out” training after lunch (1:00-2:30pm)

This does not cost you anything but your time and effort. I want to challenge you to prayerfully consider whether God would have you serve in this capacity. Disasters don’t strike every day. But, when they do, being able to help makes a tremendous difference.

Being qualified to serve doesn’t obligate you to go. It just gives you all of the tools and credentials so that you “can go” when God chooses to send you.

Reply to this email for more information. You can get trained today online or you can sign up for the training December 11th.
