Hey Church family,

I hope you”ve had a great week! We are officially in August and that means there’s only ONE more month left of summer. People are squeezing in those last minute vacations and mentally preparing for school to start back up.

In that vein, I wanted to dedicate this week’s update to information about our Fall Kick-Off at Broadview. Below you’ll find information about our Wednesday night programming, new adult Bible studies and other upcoming events.

Here are the highlights:

September 1st | 6:30-8:00PM

Wednesday Night Kick-Off

(preschool, children & students)

Financial Peace University

New Ladies Bible Study (Jude)

Volunteer Meetings in August

August 8th – Sharing The Gospel Training

August 15th – Preschool, Kids & Youth Volunteer Meeting

Upcoming Events in August

August 19th – Senior Adult Ministry Kickoff Event

August 20th – Right Now Media Men’s Conference

You can learn more about each of those things below. You’ll also learn about other upcoming events like the Women’s Ministry Fall Retreat and a new adult small group kicking off next Sunday.

Of particular note is the Sharing The Gospel Training this weekend. It starts at 4:00 but we’re also having a Fort Worth Trip team meeting at 3:30.

The team meeting is for all those going on the Fort Worth trip to partner with Redemption City Church. We’re actually looking for a professional photographer if anybody wants to go and provide that ministry. It’s not too late to sign up! (just reply to this email)

The team meeting will be at 3:30 in the Music Suite. The training will take place in the music suite at 4:00PM.

Because there are so many new updates below I’m going to leave it at that for this week’s update. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and also join us for worship this Sunday!

We’re kicking off a few series out of Revelation 6 entitled “Birth Pains: The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.” It’s going to be wild!

If there is any way I can pray for you please let me know by replying to this email. Also please bookmark August 30th, 6PM on your calendar for our next Prayer Night.

Until he comes,

Pastor Wes

Volunteer Vision Meetings

Volunteer Vision Meetings

Preschool, Children and Youth

August 15th | 12:30PM
(After 3rd Service)

Don’t forget we have some volunteer vision meetings this coming August 15th after the third morning worship service. These meetings will start at 12:30 and lunch will be provided.

The goal behind these meetings is two-fold. First, we want to encourage and raise up new leaders for the growth that is taking place in our preschool and children’s departments. We lost several volunteers after COVID and are trying to rebuild.

The second reason for meeting is to provide clarity and vision for what God is doing in each department and communicate with existing volunteers the opportunities that we have for the fall.

If you have any interest in serving in either meeting please RSVP. There is a sign up sheet for potential volunteers in the hallway outside of the sanctuary. You can also just reply to this email.

It really is an exciting time and we need every member gifted for ministry (that’s you!) to be deploying that gift in the life of the church.

You can talk to Ora (children’s) or Tiffany (preschool) for more information.

Youth Ministry Volunteers

In addition to the preschool and children’s ministry vision meetings we are also inviting existing or potential student ministry volunteers to join us as well. With Joseph’s transition it’s important that we have a clear game plan and informed volunteers so we’re ready for a strong kick-off September 1.

This gathering will meet in the Music Suite since the Education Building and Gathering Place will be taken up by the other two vision meetings.

Already we’ve seen several new volunteers rise up to help serve in our youth ministry during this transition season. It’s been encouraging to see God raise up new people who are committed to serve. If God is calling you to invest in the next generation then please heed the call and join us for lunch.

This is especially true if your a female volunteer willing to work with students!

I’m praying if God puts it on your heart then you’ll be faithful to put it on your calendar and have your eyes opened to the eternal impact you can make.

If you have questions you can reply to this email.

This fall we have some outreach events planned and because of that we wanted to host a training for how to share the Gospel. Tanner Clarke will teach the training and it will be held on August 8th at 4PM in the Education Building.

If you are not confident in how to share the Gospel or if you’ve never done it before then this is a GREAT opportunity.  You will grow in your knowledge and your courage.

We’re commanded in the Scripture to always be ready to give a reason for the hope that is in us. Are you ready?

Retreat Information:
When was the last time you felt completely satisfied? We see God plant this need in humanity throughout the Bible. He beautifully describes and displays how He, Himself, is perfectly fitted to meet that need and fill our desires.

Too often, you and I pursue other things to fill our longings. We keep drinking from sources that can never quench our thirst. Our pursuit of things and people and dreams can leave us wondering what our lives are really about. Do they even matter?

Causin’ a Stir is what happens when we discover those thirst-quenching essentials God provides for true satisfaction. Like being handed a glass of cold, refreshing water after wandering in a desert, you, too, can discover how God moves in and through the lives of His people to invite them to learn to thirst for Him.

Find relief through what can bring true fulfillment. Join us for a weekend that is sure to offer real change for your life. You’ll make new friends, new connections and find new thirst-quenching recipes for your faith.

New Groups!

New Adult Small Group

Starts August 15th | 11:00AM

We have a new adult small group kicking off this coming August 15th at 11:00AM. The group will be led by Randy and Marion Voorhees and is geared towards ages 45 and under (although all are welcome.)

The name of the class is Expositors 222 from the exhortation found in 2 Timothy 2:22. “Flee from youthful passions, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

This will be a small group geared around expositional Bible teaching and mutual accountability for growth in godliness. It’s a great opportunity to get connected with other believers if you don’t yet have a small group. It’s also a great way to grow in your faith and knowledge of God.

New Women’s Bible Study

September 1st | 10AM or 6:30PM

Women’s Bible Study starts September 1st at either 10 AM or 6:30 PM in the Main Building Fellowship Hall! Broadview Women’s Ministry encourages and equips women of all ages and seasons of life through various book and topical studies.

About the Class:
While often overlooked, the Book of Jude remains as relevant today as the time it was written. God has commanded His beloved church to do the necessary work of contending for the faith in a world of unbelief, and as we do, He will keep us from falling into the same deception.

In this 7-session study we will dive into themes of being called, loved, and kept. We will learn how to point others to Jesus in grace and truth. We serve others well when we share the whole gospel with them, not just the parts deemed attractive by our culture.
