Hey Church Family
I hope you’ve had a good week! I just wanted to send out a quick update out to remind you about the prayer meeting this evening at 6:00PM. Kids are welcome to join us in the Sanctuary and it should last right over an hour. I know that many of you aren’t used to “church on a Monday” so it may take some getting used to.
However, if you’re in town, I really want to encourage you to be there. I think the Lord will use these Monday evenings to do something really special in the life of our church. For now, these prayer meetings aren’t going to be live-streamed.
What will this look like?
There will NOT be a sermon or a 30 minute Bible study for this gathering. The gathering really is for the express purpose of prayer. We will seek the presence of the Lord until we find him. Once we find his presence we will do everything we can to stay in his presence. There will be some singing and some Scripture reading.
First, we will talk to God about what he wants to talk about. Then we will talk to God about what we want to talk about. If you have prayer needs that you’d like the church to pray over then you can have those needs prayed over during the end portion of the prayer meeting.
You can submit personal requests beforehand using this link.
The Next 40 Days
As I mentioned in my last update, there are 40 days between tomorrow’s prayer meeting and Good Friday. I think it’s God’s providential way of inviting us to really use this season to seek after him in a special way. I want to encourage you to consider fasting from a particular item or activity to create a spirit of hunger and spiritual thirst for God’s presence in your life.
The staff has been doing this since January and the Lord has used the prayer meetings in a powerful way in my own life. The season of fasting helped to accelerate the work I believe God wanted to accomplish.
As I mentioned in the message yesterday, every spiritual awakening throughout history has been preceded by an intense thirst for God. The spiritual discipline of fasting is a practical way to create and amplify that spiritual thirst. When you experience a craving for the thing you’re fasting from, it prompts you to exchange that craving with a craving for God.
There’s a connection between this kind of prayer and a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit. I believe the Lord is inviting us to press into this season of prayer and fasting for that very purpose. We need a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The question is, are we ready to ask for it and receive it?
Every person and every church has as much or as little of the Holy Spirit as they want to have. The Lord is inviting us to have more if we will just ask.
So, if you’re in town and you’re willing to accept this invitation, please join us!
Also, please read the upcoming events below as there are two new Bible studies coming up for those who are interested. I hope to see many of you tomorrow.
With love,
