Hello Church Family!
I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to send out a quick update to let you know about a special Sunday night service happening this weekend. Also, there are multiple upcoming events that you may not know about.
Sunday Night Service
This coming Sunday we are going to meet at 6:00pm to cap off our 21-day emphasis on prayer and fasting. We will have some special music along with a final message to conclude our Resolved sermon series. I’m not sure about you, but the Lord has used Romans 12 and the corresponding reading plan in Romans to do a special work in my heart. I anticipate this Sunday evening service will also be something special. Please join us.
We will have childcare available for ages birth to 5th grade. The young ones will be in the nursery but newer kids 4 yrs and up are welcome to attend the children’s choir rehearsal in the music suite. (Who knows… they may fall in love with singing and want to come back next week as well!) Kids are also welcome to join us in the worship center for the main service.
We also have a handful of upcoming events next month that I want to put on your radar. If you want, bookmark the upcoming events page on our website and it’ll keep you posted on what’s going on.
Valentine’s Day Dinner
On Friday, February 14th we will have a special Valentine’s Day dinner at the church. It’s from 6:00-9:00pm. We are serving a steak dinner along with some tasty sides. There will be entertainment through song during dinner and an event program to follow with special guest speaker Mike Hill. Mike serves as the Marriage Pastor at Beltway Park.
Space is limited! We are only going to sell a limited number of tickets and you can only attend the dinner if you purchase a ticket. Tickets are also only available in the Gathering Place after each morning worship service. They cost $25 per couple. (a great deal for the dinner you’ll be eating!)
Childcare is available for ages birth through 5th grade. However, you MUST RSVP with Sherry by February 9th to secure it. You can send her an email to take care of that now.
Where else in Abilene are you going to get a great steak dinner, awesome entertainment with childcare provided and an enriching message on marriage for $25? No. Where. Else. So what are you waiting for? We snew half the tickets the first Sunday. Don’t go another Sunday without getting signed up.
If you’d like to secure a ticket but won’t be able to attend worship services this Sunday or next then please reach out to Phyllis Trevathan or Terry Shuffield and coordinate an alternative. I can’t wait for this fun night of fellowship and spiritual enrichment.
(By the way… we’ve got some singles attending the event as well. So this isn’t a “couples only” thing. If your spouse cannot attend or you’re single but want to come, all you need to do is get a ticket.)
We also have several new groups that are about to kick off for the Spring. The first is Embrace Grace. There’s a new Embrace Grace group kicking off February 5th. This is a 12-week program (ending April 22nd) and happens on Wednesday’s at 6:30pm in Annex A.
Embrace Grace is a group gathering for single moms who are expecting. When you join an Embrace Grace group you will make friends in a judgment-free community of women who want to encourage and support you.
During this 12-week program, the wider church body also comes around these young moms and showers them with love and support through baby showers, spa treatments and other acts of compassion and encouragement.
Do you know a single mom who’s pregnant and feeling overwhelmed? Encourage her to say goodbye to that fear and hello to joy through joining this upcoming Embrace Grace group. You can contact Janet for more information. Reach her by phone at (325) 665-7272.
While we’re on the topic of women’s ministry, I also want to give you a heads up on the IF:Gathering happening at OUR church on February 7th-8th. It will start at 6:00pm on Friday and go until 9:00pm. The Saturday sessions begin at 9:00am with event concluding at 5:00pm.
All women and young ladies ages 14 and above are invited to attend. The event at Broadview will be a live simulcast of the actual event being hosted in Dallas. IF:Gathering is a two-day time of worship, teaching, panel groups, and discussion with the focus completely on Jesus. Watch this video to learn more about the vision for the 2020 IF:Gathering.
IF is a discipleship ministry inspired by the question “If God is real… then what?” and focuses on putting tools and resources in the hands of women in the church. The event is free, but please register so we have enough materials for each person. Even if you cannot make it for both days of the event, you can still register and attend the sessions you’re able to make.
You can also register on the day of the event at the church. Learn more about the event here. If you have questions you can contact Tamara Massingill.
Financial Peace University
Switching gears, Financial Peace University kicks off again for the 2020 Spring semester on February 18th. Cody and Autumn Cauthen will be leading FPU this time around and they have a really neat testimony of just how effective the program can be if you work the plan. They paid off over $50,000 in debt since leading the class only a little over a year ago! You can watch their testimony here.
Did you know that 76% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck? 64% of Americans can’t cover a $1,000 emergency. This doesn’t have to be true for you! All you need is a practical plan for your money. That’s what you’ll get in this course.
In addition to that, you’ll be surrounded by others who are pursuing the same goal. There’s power in that community. I’ve taken the course twice now and each time it had a dramatic impact on how I viewed and handled my money.
We have scholarships available for people who cannot afford the $95 investment to do the course. However, you must attend all nine sessions with perfect attendance. You can contact Cody if you have any questions. You can order your materials through the church for a cheaper price.
Safety Team Training
On February 22nd at 9am our safety team will meet in the Educational Building for an update and review of existing procedures. From 10-12am we will offer training for any and all new volunteers of the Safety Team.
If you are interested in serving on the safety team at Broadview, the training from 10-12 on February 22nd is required. The training will equip you with the knowledge you need to serve on the safety team in one of eight key positions.
Anybody is welcome to serve on Broadview’s Safety Team. You will be subject to a background check. Those who have a concealed carry permit are especially encouraged to attend.
You can register for the team and/or the event below.
That’s just the month of February! March will bring with it even more exciting opportunities but if I listed all of them now then this update would be too long to read. I’ll do my best to keep you in regular updates and you can always check our website for upcoming events as well.
I hope you have a great weekend and please join us this Sunday for morning AND EVENING services. It’s been an amazing 2020 so far at Broadview. Lord willing, the best is yet to come!
With sincere love and great anticipation,
